In partnership with the Clean Vehicle Education Foundation, the Florida Gold Coast Clean Cities Coalition hosted the Compelling Case for Natural Gas on November 17, 2010 at the Fort Lauderdale’s Hilton Hotel. The all day workshop included the participation of fleet managers, public works coordinators and sales representatives from public agencies as well as private organizations in the natural gas industry. The workshop featured topics like the economic, environmental, and national energy security market drivers; the best natural gas vehicle technologies available; and how to identify and secure State tax incentives and grants. Natural gas vehicles were displayed throughout the entire workshop and at the end of the day, a site visit to a local natural gas station was conducted so that attendees could learn about the fueling process and technology being used. The workshop was a great opportunity for professionals in the field to share information, establish contacts, and receive an update on the status of the natural gas industry in the South Florida Region

Florida Gold Coast Clean Cities Coalition hosted the First Alternative Fuel Vehicle (AFV) Day Odyssey in South Florida
On October 15th, 2010 The Florida Gold Coast Clean Cities Coalition held the first National AFV Odyssey Day event in South Florida. Local residents were encouraged to join the Odyssey Day; a celebration conducted biennially to educate the public on the importance of alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles.

The Coalition counted with the participation of public and private agencies interested in supporting the current and upcoming environmental initiatives. Participants were able to see first-hand the process that Natural Gas goes through at the station before vehicles are fueled. Other alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles from public and private fleets were displayed; representatives were available to answer questions about how each vehicle is used and what the benefits are from using these vehicles.
Attendees received giveaway bags with literature about alternative fuels, alternative fuel vehicles and how to be involved in environmental stewardship programs. Clean Cities members were also able to share information on current projects and upcoming events to continue promoting alternative fuels, alternative fuel vehicles, and increase the infrastructure available.
